Tluxe Blog — how to wear

    New season preview!

Adis Ababa trousers (top) and Saffron top (above), new for autumn/winter 2013

We're hugely excited to announce the arrival of our new collection for autumn/winter 2013, The Journey, which hits stores next week and our online shop in mid-February.

Inspired by trips to exotic locations and featuring a jewel-like colour palette of turquoise, teal, ruby red and dark, inky indigo we're particularly proud of our new Australian-designed, tribal-influenced print, pictured above in our Adis Ababa trousers.

"We've looked inland, to the rich, earthy colours of Australia's outback this season, as a change to our usual coastal influences," explains Tluxe creative director, Rebecca Powell. "Our tribal dance print is a fusion of native cultural references from Indonesian Batik to African-inspired pattern, and the ancient linear artworks of Australia’s indigenous tribes.”

Another of our favourite pieces in the new collection is our cowl-back Saffron top, which is designed to be layered, Bedouin-like, with swathes of luxurious, natural fabrics. Autumn/winter is all about layering so this season we’ll be providing you with plenty of styling tips on how to get the most out of the key pieces in the new Tluxe collection. Watch this space!

Style solutions for work, rest and play

Hello and happy Monday! Today we’d like to introduce you to Josefin, our multi-tasking graphic designer who landed in Sydney a little over four years ago from Sweden. Josefin is not only a dab hand at Photoshop but also loves knitting and thinking up different ways to wear her favourite Tluxe pieces, which this week is a sparkly Claridges top and a pair of super soft navy Parco di Principi trousers.

    Work

    Rest

     Play

For work Josefin plays down the Claridges sequins with a Burberry trench and pair of camel ankle boots. For a casual weekend get-together a cosy Kate Sylvester jacket and a knitted colour block scarf - colour block being our top tip for updating any outfit this winter. And for after dark, a silk kimono bought all the way from Tokyo is given a bit of wow with a pair of gold wedges and some gold accessories. Et voila! One outfit for work, rest and play!

To share the joy of Josefine’s styling expertise we’re offering 50% off the look (that’s the Claridges top and Parco di Principi trousers together) – to everyone! Enjoy.

    On trend... the pencil skirt

The pencil skirt is just so hot right now and will be one of your go-to items well into next winter. Why? Well, it’s not just because it looks sexy, it also helps pull together any of the key trends of the season, from block colours to fetish, mixing up your textures, and the more obvious 1940s themes seen all over the winter catwalks. We also love a pencil skirt because you can wear it right now with your summer sandals or when the weather cools down, with knee-length winter boots.

Our top tip is to look for a skirt that sits just below the knee, like our very own Tluxe version, which is the most flattering style, unless of course you have the knees of a supermodel and can sport something shorter. Then throw on something simple and graphic, like a boxy tunic-style top, a simple crew-neck number or a jacket with a peplum, et voila, you’ve mastered one of the season’s smartest looks, which has the added bonus of taking you from boardroom to cocktail bar without having to do little more than freshen up your makeup.
