Heads up people! We’re super excited to announce the arrival of our Australian Merino wool pieces online this week including our super fine, silk-trimmed Merino wool cape (pictured above).
This season we’ve upped the chic factor on many of our wool cardigans and tops by trimming them in silk. So you get the warmth, comfort and sustainable qualities of wool, with a little added glamour and shine.
For those of you who may not already know, Australian Merino wool is undergoing a renaissance as the world’s most luxurious natural fibre and is prized the world over for it’s super fine quality. For a taste of its reinvention we’re loving Woolmark’s exhibition Wool Modern (pictured top), which started off in London and hits Sydney later this month. From Alexander McQueen to Vivienne Westwood and the king of ‘80s sharp silhouettes, Thierry Mugler, the exhibition shows wool at its most avant-garde. Yes, the humble Australian sheep is a little more fashion-foward than you’d expect. And recent innovations mean wool fabrics are now incredibly soft too... Suddenly the imminent arrival of winter doesn’t feel so bad after all.
One of the standout trends for this summer’s resort 2012 collections is the triple-layered look. Pick up a pair of trousers, throw a tunic or dress over the top and finish with a shirt or jacket et voila! You’re right on trend for the new-tiered silhouette.
The secret to layering in style is to keep the look sleek with fine knits and a belt, and think contrasts: short sleeves, such as a cropped jacket over something long, like a Tluxe organic cotton Ling T-shirt; mix up your lengths, fabrics and accessories but keep them all in different tones of the same colour; or take a tip from style mavens like our very own Yasmin Sewell (pictured above), the former creative consultant for Liberty and all-round layering maestro.
We love Yasmin’s way with a dress over trousers, and doubling up two dresses in one outfit. Layering is still one of the easiest and most impressive sartorial tricks to have up your sleeve. And it's a great way to wear a new summer dress before the full heat of summer hits. So get to it.
This season it’s all about stripes. Strong, graphic engineered stripes in bright summery colours are a great way to inject some on-trend zing into your spring wardrobe. The
key to keeping the look up-to-date is to
mix the new season's bold brights with black and white, and keep your silhouette
simple. We’ve made it easy for you with our new Rebecca P maxi dress in cheery
sunshine yellow and super strong graphite. Wear it with a huge fluoro tote, or if
like us, you can’t wait for summer, layer it up with a mis-matched striped T-shirt
for a cool spring day.
Hello and welcome to the Tluxe blog. This week, as winter really starts to kick in we’re obsessing over the
art of layering. Our secret to avoiding the bulky look of winter and keeping
warm and comfortable while looking svelte is to layer up your lightweight fabrics,
such as organic cotton and superfine merino wool.
Our favourite looks right now (pictured above left-to-right)
are; the luxury fleece Fatima Blush hooded poncho layered over a long sleeve
organic cotton Ling T-shirt, worn with our Paris Carver pencil skirt in
sustainable bamboo elastane; and for a cosy Sunday stroll to the local café,
grab our Mayday T-shirt, Kimberly Jones hooded cardy, and a pair of our luxury
cotton, wool and lycra Inga
