    Tluxe Blog — model

    Quote of the week

As the round of international fashion weeks hit their finale in Paris this coming week, it’s nice to be reminded that even some of the industry’s most glamorous faces had humble beginnings.

“My first fashion event was probably when I was 10 and at the YMCA. It was a ‘fashion show’ but really it was kids walking on the stage waving to their parents,” model, Erin Wasson (Fashion Indie).

    Evolution of the pantsuit

The 70s-inspired pantsuit will be big this summer. We should know. We’ve been doing our own version of the relaxed jersey all-in-one since summer 2007, when we first launched the Tluxe Bianca Jagger style, pictured above.

Inspired by the likes of Mrs Jagger and cohorts Debbie Harry and Jerry Hall at the legendary Studio 54, the Tluxe pantsuit has evolved into the slouchy chic of our newest styles, Melissa O, and Elsa S, in stores now.

First sported as workwear by women in the 1940s, the renaissance of the pantsuit into fashionable wardrobes started in the early 1960s thanks to designers such as Yves Saint Laurent and Norma Kamali. This season everyone from Chanel to Lanvin are embracing the pantsuit’s relaxed glamour. Style yours up with statement heels for a night on the town, or take a note from Tluxe's Emma Balfour and go clean and casually simple by keeping accessories to a minimum and throwing on some great summer flats.

    We love... classic white

With spring in the air we’re loving the new Martin Margiela-designed Hotel La Maison Champs Elysées in Paris (pictured above) for its subtle variations on classic white – especially the “loose covers in white” suite, where every object is wrapped, Christo-style, in white cotton.

A key trend this summer, white is also a failsafe classic for your staple wardrobe. Pay tribute to the new season’s minimalist aesthetic by combining our Tluxe classic white New Suzie Q tee with skinny jeans and ankle boots. Come summer, it’s all about keeping shapes simple and accessories to a minimum, a la our new season house model Emma Balfour, seen here pictured in a dress from the new Tluxe spring/summer 2011-12 collection, which hits stores this month.

    Mama moment... Miranda Kerr

Australian model Miranda Kerr’s spectacular return to star form at last week’s David Jones catwalk show reminded us just how much we love a stylish mum.

We love Miranda’s style, but it’s her health conscious approach to life, which really sets her apart. The model’s trim, post-baby bod is one part genetics to two parts healthy eating, pilates, and yoga, care of our favourite Bondi yoga teacher, Charlotte Dodson. Charlotte has not only been Miranda’s personal yoga guru for years, but both ladies are fans of Tluxe's stylish take on yoga wear.

"It's refreshing to find a label that designs stylish, eco-friendly pieces that I can wear to teach and practice in,” says Charlotte. “Ultra-comfortable, skin-healthy organic cotton jerseys and bamboo are naturally perfect for yoga."

Watch out for Charlotte sporting Tluxe on the August 29 edition of Australia’s Next Top Model on Fox8, where she teaches the young stars the finer details of a sun salutation wearing our Fatima hooded poncho, Bambi leggings, and Anya stretch wool fleece top.

Emma Balfour... hot off the press

We’re excited to announce Emma Balfour as the star of our new summer look book. One of the original supermodels, Emma recently returned to the catwalk for Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang and was chosen by Phoebe Philo as the face of last winter’s Celine campaign.

Emma is a mother earth at heart, spending a lot of time with her two children in her home near Sydney’s Bondi beach. We love her laidback, natural sense of style, which reflects the very essence of the Tluxe philosophy of understated glamour.

Emma’s favourite pieces from the new spring/summer collection, photographed by Andy Baker, and styled by Rimma and our very own Suzy Scott, are pictured above. The collection hits stores August 1st and online August 8.
