Today we’re feeling the love for our palm print, designed and printed right here in Sydney. A unique digital take on the trees that line many of our streets and local beaches here in Australia, when we think of palm trees we’re instantly transported to endless summer holidays spent lazing by the ocean and sipping cocktails as the sun goes down.

That holiday feeling inspired by palm-tree lined promenades from La Croisette on the French Riveria to Beverley Hills and Waikiki has a long history, as you can see from our vintage postcard finds above.

It also has a bright future with palms being the inspiration du jour for many of the prints gracing the spring/summer 2013 catwalks. To capture a little of that holiday spirit now and stay ahead of the fashion curve, dive into the Tluxe selection of palm print; silk T-shirts, dresses, shirts and super chic trousers. It's a sure fire way to instantly pep up your look and provide a hit of seaside glamour whether your heading to the office or hitting the pool.

      Inspire me... oceanic colours

Continuing our celebration of colour, today we take a look at the cool oceanic tones that inspired us here at Tluxe HQ for summer 2012. The perfect daytime balance to the evening hues of warm sunset orange we featured last week, our emerald and lagoon shades of blue and green are inspired by the colours of the ocean sparkling against Sydney’s skyline on any given day of the week.

Not only do oceanic tones make you feel calm and look cool it’s a very now palette worth investing in. Perusing the more directional looks on the Spring/Summer 2013 catwalks, it’s no surprise that the ocean was a key inspiration for designers from London to New York. The Tluxe top tip? Wear it with an understated sparkle of metallic silver or bronze via a pair of flats strapped at the ankle, or show your fashion smarts by sporting next summer’s hot accessory now; a chunky, transparent cuff.

      High summer colour inspiration

Today we're excited to announce that our new colours for high summer have just landed on the site! Inspired by the cobalt blue, gunmetal grey and flame orange tones of beachside sunsets, and, for those of you who prefer the tranquility of early morning, we’ve included some inspirational images of Bondi beach at sunrise, with thanks to photographer Eugene Tan.

      Culturally saturated

Festival season is upon us. Saturday we popped down to the Surry Hills Festival for a quick Pimms and a dance in the sunshine. Next weekend we hear it's Newtown's turn to pump up the volume, and for the foodies among you this week is your last chance to taste the goodness of the Crave International Food Festival. Oh, and there's the Architecture Festival too, with its tours and free consultations from an architect on your own home. Even our Sunday morning stroll along the clifftops from Bondi to Bronte has gone all cultural with the arrival of Sculpture by the Sea. Our favourite pieces from this year's artists are pictured above. The Tluxe insider's tip? Get there early to avoid the crowds, breathe some of that fresh salt air, and finish up with breakfast in Bronte. Just another reason to love Sydney in the sunshine. Happy Monday!

      Monochrome magic

There’s nothing more simple, chic and easy as black and white. It’s a classic combination that also happens to be perfectly on-trend this summer, especially if you update it with a few transparent accessories, like these fab Stella McCartney sunglasses, or for a night on the town, a pair of clear-soled heels. Trust us, the perspex sole is the way forward for footwear this season and well into next.

In keeping with the Tluxe philosophy of easy style we’ve also suggested a pair of fringed flats to go with your Hendaye shirt and Perfect leggings (these are straight off the 2013 catwalk care of Marios Schwab). To complete the look, don’t forget this summer’s essential, a wide-brimmed hat. Not only does it look cool, it’ll shade you from the sun and keep your skin fresh and youthful. What’s not to love?
