With the official start of spring our cultural calendars are set to overload. First up is Sydney’s Fringe Festival, which kicks off this week. Our personal favourites? The Fringe Art Forum for a supermarket sweep of all that’s happening on the Sydney art scene and In the Night Garden, a collection of light sculptures illuminating the back streets of St Peters, pictured top.

The other cultural event on our radar is Art and About, which launches later this month (September 21). Our wow factor bets are on Emergence, pictured above, where artists Craig Walshand Steven Thomasson bring the trees of Hyde Park to life in a luminous late night 3D installation. Magic.
